Claire Curran

Claire is a family member bereaved by suicide and has also supported loved ones who have experienced suicidal crisis.

With over 20 years’ involvement in suicide prevention and postvention, she is Head of Services with Survivors of Suicide, Advisory Officer for the Families Voices Forum, and works in partnership with Towards Zero Suicide, local Trusts, and the Public Health Agency. She also sits on several strategic groups focused on improving awareness and implementing suicide prevention initiatives.

A dedicated carer and trainer, Claire delivers programmes on suicide prevention and self-care. She is deeply passionate about supporting others, advocating for change, and giving a voice to those who cannot speak for themselves.

Claire values the Connections training for its clear, Northern Ireland–based messages and accessibility online, and she has a strong connection to Operation Link Life due to her family’s service background across the police, army, navy, and RAF.

Her motivation is to empower people to understand and support themselves, ensuring timely, accessible services for everyone – with the ultimate hope that one day, such services will no longer be needed.

I am hopeful that when we work together, we can reduce the numbers of people affected by suicide, that we can provide world class services that fit the need of those that need them without waiting lists or postcode lotteries and that there is no longer stigma around suicide.
