Lisa Cooper

My professional background includes Social Work and Professional Counselling.  I worked with Barnardo’s NI from 2003-2021 when I left to launch my own private practice, Heartsease Consultancy.  In my practice I provide 1-1 therapy for all ages using a variety of psycho therapeutic interventions,  deliver training on various relevant subjects, I also deliver Outreach Therapy as an Associate Counsellor with Rural Support,  Deliver training for WAVE Trauma Centre, Volunteer for CRUSE Bereavement, provide Independent Foster Assessments and Project Lead the Lets Grow Together Programme for Fresh  Minds Education.

I am passionate about supporting children and adults to understand themselves and their emotional world.  I strive to empower them to learn and develop internal resources in which they can feel resilient and have the ability to self-regulate despite adversities in life. I love to facilitate the family work and train professionals for Fresh Minds Education.

I have experienced loss and bereavement as a child and did not understand that what I was experiencing was ‘normal’.  It was years later before I understood what these sensations were, name the emotions and process the psychosomatic symptoms with a clear understanding of same.  It was my personal experience that motivated me to support others in their bereavement journey and help support children and parents to navigate this difficult experience with resources,  knowledge and understanding.

As mentioned previously,  I am passionate about supporting children and adults to understand themselves and their emotional world.  I strive to empower them to learn and develop internal resources in which they can feel resilient and have the ability to self-regulate despite adversities in life.  The AMBER Approach as developed by FME, epitomizes this passion and motivation.   The AMBER Approach provides a framework for individuals to refer to and includes psychoeducation and resources to help promote emotional well being.

‘This too shall pass’

LGT training will support you, to support others, to help their emotional pain ‘pass’, with compassion and understanding.

I go to the gym, walk my lovely wee dog, monthly reflexology, monthly massage, socialise with friends, have quiet coffee dates with myself and not forgetting spending quality time with my family.

I am hopeful that society can be supported to learn and develop emotional understanding and feel their emotions freely, with the support from others and without the unhelpful behaviours they have leaned on as a means to cope with their pain.  Our society is full of transgenerational trauma and we need to heal collectively to create a freer and healthier world for future generations.

My family, clarity of mind, nature and being alive!
